In addition to saving money on-the-go, budget travel pushes us to go out of our comfort zones and experience a country in the most local, non-touristy way. It’s exciting to note how far we can go with little or no money.
In the past couple of years, I’ve been fortunate enough to travel extensively despite being on a tight budget. For starters, I found opportunities that paid for my transportation and sometimes, accommodation. During my time abroad, I looked for jobs and side-gigs that gave me some extra income.
Not only did these opportunities provide me with the chance of meeting others, but they also contributed to my ability to pay back tens of thousands in student debt while exploring 20+ countries.
